Getting Started

This integration creates a workflow with a HTTP / Webhook trigger and MySQL action. When you configure and deploy the workflow, it will run on Pipedream's servers 24x7 for free.

  1. Select this integration
  2. Configure the New Requests (Payload Only) trigger
    1. Connect your HTTP / Webhook account
  3. Configure the Execute Query action
    1. Connect your MySQL account
    2. Select a Table
    3. Configure Where condition
    4. Configure Values
  4. Deploy the workflow
  5. Send a test event to validate your setup
  6. Turn on the trigger

Details

This integration uses pre-built, source-available components from Pipedream's GitHub repo. These components are developed by Pipedream and the community, and verified and maintained by Pipedream.

To contribute an update to an existing component or create a new component, create a PR on GitHub. If you're new to Pipedream component development, you can start with quickstarts for trigger span and action development, and then review the component API reference.

Trigger

Description:Get a URL and emit the HTTP body as an event on every request
Version:0.1.1
Key:http-new-requests-payload-only

Trigger Code

import http from "../../http.app.mjs";

// Core HTTP component
// Returns a 200 OK response, emits the HTTP payload as an event
export default {
  key: "http-new-requests-payload-only",
  name: "New Requests (Payload Only)",
  // eslint-disable-next-line
  description: "Get a URL and emit the HTTP body as an event on every request",
  version: "0.1.1",
  type: "source",
  props: {
    // eslint-disable-next-line
    httpInterface: {
      type: "$.interface.http",
      customResponse: true,
    },
    http,
  },
  async run(event) {
    const { body } = event;
    this.httpInterface.respond({
      status: 200,
      body,
    });
    // Emit the HTTP payload
    this.$emit({
      body,
    });
  },
};

Trigger Configuration

This component may be configured based on the props defined in the component code. Pipedream automatically prompts for input values in the UI and CLI.
LabelPropTypeDescription
N/AhttpInterface$.interface.httpThis component uses $.interface.http to generate a unique URL when the component is first instantiated. Each request to the URL will trigger the run() method of the component.
HTTP / WebhookhttpappThis component uses the HTTP / Webhook app.

Trigger Authentication

The HTTP / Webhook API does not require authentication.

MySQL Overview

MySQL is a powerful database management system used by some of the largest
organizations in the world, including Facebook, Google, and Amazon. MySQL is an
open-source relational database management system (RDBMS), as well as a popular
choice for web applications used by millions of websites.

Some applications that can be built using the MySQL API include:

  • A web application that stores and retrieves data from a MySQL database
  • A desktop application that uses a MySQL database for data storage
  • A mobile application that interacts with a MySQL database

Action Code

import mysql from "../../mysql.app.mjs";

export default {
  key: "mysql-execute-query",
  name: "Execute Query",
  description: "Find row(s) via a custom query. [See the docs here](https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/select.html)",
  type: "action",
  version: "0.0.4",
  props: {
    mysql,
    table: {
      description: "The table where the query will be executed",
      propDefinition: [
        mysql,
        "table",
      ],
    },
    condition: {
      propDefinition: [
        mysql,
        "whereCondition",
      ],
    },
    values: {
      propDefinition: [
        mysql,
        "whereValues",
      ],
    },
  },
  async run({ $ }) {
    const {
      table,
      condition,
      values,
    } = this;

    const numberOfQuestionMarks = condition?.match(/\?/g)?.length;

    if (!numberOfQuestionMarks) {
      throw new Error("No valid condition provided. At least one question mark character ? must be provided.");
    }

    if (!Array.isArray(values)) {
      throw new Error("No valid values provided. The values property must be an array.");
    }

    if (values.length !== numberOfQuestionMarks) {
      throw new Error("The number of values provided does not match the number of question marks ? in the condition.");
    }

    const result = await this.mysql.findRows({
      table,
      condition,
      values,
    });

    $.export("$summary", `Successfully found ${result.length} row(s) from table ${table}`);

    return result;
  },
};

Action Configuration

This component may be configured based on the props defined in the component code. Pipedream automatically prompts for input values in the UI.

LabelPropTypeDescription
MySQLmysqlappThis component uses the MySQL app.
TabletablestringSelect a value from the drop down menu.
Where conditionconditionstring

In this expression you can write your own conditions (eg. column1 = ? or column2 = ?). Depending on the number of ? symbols likewise you need to add the same number of values.

Valuesvaluesstring[]

This is the list of values that will match every ? symbol in the where expression. If you want to build yourself the values (eg. {{["string1", "string2"]}})

Action Authentication

MySQL uses API keys for authentication. When you connect your MySQL account, Pipedream securely stores the keys so you can easily authenticate to MySQL APIs in both code and no-code steps.

Before you connect to your MySQL database from Pipedream, please make sure your database is either:

  1. Accessible from the public internet (You may need to add a firewall rule on 0.0.0.0/0 on port 3306), or

  2. Accessible from an SSH server that you route MySQL requests through

After that, enter the following values:

  • host: The hostname or IP address of your MySQL server
  • port: 3306, unless you run MySQL on a different port
  • username: The account username to log in
  • password: The account password to log in
  • database: The name of the MySQL database to run queries against
