Thanks for engaging with Pipedream, a Workday company. Handling your personal information is a serious responsibility, and we want you to know how we’re managing it. This Privacy Statement describes what personal information we collect, how we collect and use it, and how we comply with privacy and legal standards that may apply to us.

What this Privacy Statement covers

Personal information is information that relates to an identified or identifiable person. Data protection laws often distinguish between “controllers” and “processors” of personal information. While some laws may use different terms, the core concept remains the same. A controller decides why and how personal information is handled. A processor only handles personal information on behalf of a controller, following the controller’s instructions. Depending on the situation, Pipedream can be either a controller or a processor.

This Privacy Statement applies only when Pipedream is acting as a controller for your personal information, including situations where you:

Create a Pipedream account as either an individual, or an end user of an Advanced, Business, Enterprise, or Connect account
Sign up to receive sales, marketing or other communications from us, such as emails or phone calls
Participate in the Pipedream.com online community

What personal information Pipedream collects as a controller and how we use it

This section explains how we collect and use your personal information, depending on how you engage with Pipedream. This section also explains the legal basis on which we process your personal information, as required under certain international laws.

Visitors to our website

Information we collect from website visitors

If you’re browsing this website, we automatically collect the same basic technical and usage information that most websites collect, including: the visitor’s browser type, language preference, referring site, pages visited, additional websites requested, and the date and time of each visitor request. We also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.

Some of this information is collected using cookies and similar tracking technology. You can find more details, including how to manage your preferences, below in “Our use of cookies and tracking.” We do not collect “sensitive personal information” as the term is defined by California law beyond what is necessary to provide your requested services. Accordingly, we do not provide a mechanism for you to request that we limit our use of sensitive personal information.

We also provide ways for website visitors to give us contact information – such as your business email address, your job title, and phone number.

How we use this personal information

We use this information to better understand how our website visitors use Pipedream, to improve the quality and relevance of our website and products, and to monitor and protect the security of the website.

If you provide us your contact information, we will use it to provide the information you requested, for example to respond to your ‘contact sales’ request, and to communicate with you.

We may combine the automatically collected information with your name and contact information you provide us to personalize our messages, recommend the most relevant solutions for you and your organization, and make our sales and marketing efforts more efficient.

Pipedream Account Users

Personal information we collect

If you create an account to use our services, we require some basic information to create the account. You will choose your own username, and will be required to sign in with a third-party identity provider tied to a valid email address.

We may link your personal information to other online identifiers we collect on our website, such as IP addresses, cookie identifiers, user account identifiers, as well as log information such as page views, and time stamps.

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to:

Understand how our users access and use our Services, such as by tracking whether our customers use certain Services at certain times, in certain ways, or from certain countries, and we may analyze that information to help us provide better or more efficient Services. For example, if we see many IP addresses from a particular country, we may increase our server capacity in those countries; if we see significant interaction with certain web pages or platform features, we may incorporate that knowledge into our Service offerings.
Create your account, and to provide the services you request, including to provide the Pipedream service, or to respond to support requests.
Communicate with you in connection with services we provide to you, and for marketing purposes.
Make recommendations for you, such as to suggest projects you may want to follow or contribute to. For example, when you fill out an interest survey at account creation, we learn from it — as well as from your public behavior on Pipedream, such as the projects you star — to determine your coding interests, and we recommend similar projects.
Maintain the security of our site, for training purposes, and for legal documentation.

Our legal basis for processing your personal information

When you create a Pipedream account, you provide your user name and an email address. We require those data elements for you to enter into the Terms of Service agreement with us, and we process those elements on the basis of performing that contract. Pipedream does not collect or process a credit card number, but our third-party payment processor does.
Generally, the remainder of the processing of personal information we perform is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests. For example, for security and operational purposes, we must keep logs of IP addresses that access Pipedream, and for our own legal and auditing purposes we need to keep certain customer records.

Retaining your personal information

We keep your personal information for as long as we have a legitimate business need to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested or to comply with applicable legal, tax, or accounting requirements).

The factors we consider when deciding how long to keep personal information include:

The length of time we have an ongoing business relationship with you
The amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information we process
Whether we have a legal obligation to keep personal information or if it is necessary to resolve disputes, including the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims
When we no longer have a legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize it. If this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.

Pipedream may share or make accessible your personal information to third parties as follows:

Pipedream affiliates. Pipedream may share your personal information with other companies within the Workday group where necessary to fulfill a request you have submitted or for customer support, marketing, technical operations, event registration, and account management purposes.
Service providers. Pipedream may share personal information with our service providers who process it on our behalf to provide or improve our service. Our vendors perform services such as payment processing, network data transmission, security providers, tech and customer support and hosting providers, marketing and data enhancement and hygiene services, and accounting, auditing and legal services providers. These service providers may use personal information we provide to them only as we instruct them.
Your organization. Where your organization is a customer or potential customer of Pipedream, we may disclose your personal information to relevant people within your organization for reasons such as customer support, security and to investigate violations of our terms of service.
Advertising. When you visit our website, we may enable third parties to use cookies and other trackers to show you ads on third-party websites that are more relevant to you. Under some data protection laws, our disclosure of this information to third parties through cookies and other trackers for targeted advertising may be considered a “sale” or “share” of personal information. Please see the section below called “Use of Cookies and Tracking” for more information about the types of cookies we use and your choices. Pipedream does not have actual knowledge that it “sells” or “shares” the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.
Other reasons. Pipedream may disclose data if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal processes; (b) protect and defend our rights or property; (c) enforce our website terms and conditions; and/or (d) act to protect the interests of our customers, users, or others. If Pipedream goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your personal information may be among the assets transferred, provided that we inform the actual or potential buyer (or its agents and advisors) that it must use your personal information only for the purposes disclosed in this Privacy Statement. We may also ask for your consent to disclose your information to other unaffiliated third parties that are not described elsewhere in this statement.

Public information on Pipedream

Much of Pipedream is public-facing. If you make your content public-facing, third parties may access and use it in compliance with our Terms of Service, such as by viewing your “endpoints” or pulling data via our API. If you post comments on our website, any personal information you include will be visible to others.

Remember that if you compile Pipedream data, you must comply with the applicable requirements in our Terms of Service, and you may use any public-facing personal information you gather only for the purpose for which the Pipedream user has authorized it.

Our use of cookies and tracking

Pipedream uses cookies to make interactions with our service easy and meaningful. We use cookies (and similar technologies, like HTML5 localStorage) to remember your preferences, and provide information for future development of Pipedream. We also use cookies to identify a device, for security reasons. We may use third party cookies and similar technologies to market to you – for instance, to “retarget” people who have visited our website, or to determine whether our emails are being opened or read.

We also use a number of third party analytics and service providers to help us evaluate our users’ use of Pipedream; compile statistical reports on activity; and improve our content and website performance. We only use these third party analytics providers on certain areas of our website, and all of them have signed data protection agreements with us that limit the type of personal information they can collect and the purpose for which they can process the information. In addition, we use our own internal analytics software to provide features and improve our content and performance.

By using our website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your computer or device.

We do not currently respond to your browser’s Do Not Track signal, and we do not permit third parties other than our analytics and service providers to track Pipedream users’ activity over time on Pipedream.

How Pipedream secures your information

Pipedream uses technical and organizational measures that provide a level of security appropriate to the nature of the personal information and the risks that are presented by processing your personal information. However, the security of information transmitted through the internet can never be guaranteed. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password or other forms of authentication involved in accessing password-protected or secured resources.

Pipedream’s global privacy practices

Pipedream, based in the United States, operates as a global business and complies with applicable legal requirements when we need to transfer, store, or process your personal information in a country outside your jurisdiction.

We take appropriate safeguards to protect your privacy, your fundamental rights and freedoms, and the ability to exercise your rights. For example, if we transfer personal information from the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the United Kingdom, (“UK”), or Switzerland to another country such as the United States, we will implement an appropriate data transfer solution such as entering into “standard contractual clauses” approved by the European Commission or competent governmental authority (as applicable) with the data importer.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you are located and how you interact with Pipedream, you may have certain rights over the personal information we hold about you. These may include the right to:

Obtain access to your personal information that is being processed by us.
Correct inaccurate personal information.
Request the deletion of your personal information.
Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising.
Object to the processing of your personal information carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, and ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information.
Request the portability of your personal information in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
Withdraw your consent at any time, if we have collected and processed your personal information with your consent. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, nor will it affect processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
Opt out of marketing communications we send, which includes the profiling we conduct to support such marketing.

Pipedream does not make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects as part of the processing activities covered by this Privacy Statement.

Additional privacy information if you use YouTube and Google APIs on Pipedream

If you use any of the Pipedream-provided YouTube services, you are interacting with YouTube’s API Services and Google’s Privacy Policy at http://www.google.com/policies/privacy applies.

When you authorize Pipedream to access your YouTube account, Pipedream stores basic information about your account (for example, the email address linked to your YouTube account). When you make API requests to YouTube from Pipedream, Pipedream may store information like logs or API responses (see “Our use of cookies and tracking” section). You can delete this data from your Pipedream account at any time, or delete your account at https://pipedream.com/settings/account. You can also revoke Pipedream’s access to your account at https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions.

Pipedream’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
