monday ACTION
Create Item
Create an item (a row) on a board. Use for a top-level row; use Create Subitem for a row nested under an existing item. Set
Board ID and Item Name, and optionally Group ID and Column Values. Call List Columns first to get the column IDs and the labels a status or dropdown column accepts. Example: Item Name Website redesign, Column Values { "status": "Working on it", "date4": "2026-09-02", "numbers": 42 }. Set Item Create Labels to true to allow missing status/dropdown labels to be created, which requires permission to change the board structure. Returns the new item's ID as a string (e.g. 9876543210). IMPLEMENTATION
Call this tool
Connect a user's monday account once, then configure and run Create Item from your backend or agent.

Inputs
Pipedream supplies the connected account. Your application provides the operation-specific values below. Dynamic inputs are resolved against that user's account.
| Property | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
boardId Board ID | string | The board to act on, as a board ID (e.g. 2419687965). Use List Board ID Options to look up a board ID by name. Required Dynamic |
groupId Group ID | string | The group (a titled section of rows) to place the item in, as a group ID (e.g. new_group12345). Use List Boards and read the board's groups array to find group IDs, or Create Group to make a new one. Omit to use the board's top group. Optional Dynamic |
itemName Item Name | string | The new item's name Required |
createLabels Item Create Labels | boolean | Set to true to create any status or dropdown label named in Column Values that does not exist yet. Requires permission to change the board structure; leave unset to have unknown labels rejected instead. Optional |
columnValues Column Values | object | The column values to set, as column ID → value pairs. Example: { "status": "Done", "date4": "2026-09-02", "numbers": 42 }. Use List Columns to discover column IDs and the allowed labels for status/dropdown columns. See the Column types reference for the value each column type expects Optional |
