Why Isn't the 'Path' Element Displaying Folders from My Dropbox Account in the Workflow?

This topic was automatically generated from Slack. You can find the original thread here.

I’m wanting to add a dropbox trigger.
I select the account, and am trying to use the ‘Path’ element to select a folder.
There is a loading icon that spins, and also a search parameter.
Expecting folders from the dropbox account to display, but I cannot get any response.

I’ve done this in other workflows , using the same account no problem(but quite some time ago.)
Any advice? (edited)

Hey , could you do me a favor and share the whole workflow URL here so I can take a look

Thanks, looking

I could not repro with my Dropbox account

I looked into your sources, and see a lot of Dropbox triggers. Not sure if having a large number of sources may cause this issue — could you remove the ones that you’re not currently using?

To test that theory, I’ve created a clean pipedream on another email accout.

Then I’ve added a single project with a single workflow, trigger with the same account - getting same result.

I’ve progressed a couple of steps.
Created a dropbox trigger to another account, and that worked OK, like you advised you found in test.
That dropbox account was on the same email address, and is a personal account.
The live dropbox account ‘ops@tdaflow.com’ is a business account with some additional config that now sounds like could be a factor.
However, I have connected on a key previous workflow setup in 2021 and is working continuously.

I’m trying to understand the difference.
There were some alerts from dropbox on the successful connection that I wanted to screenshot.
Had intended to reproduce, and went to delete the sources so that I could re-connect clean again.

I’m unable to remove any of the dropbox accounts - And when I click ‘connect new account’ the existing account adds to the list - How can I delete these so that the auth step with dropbox can be initialised clean.

This is where I connected OK on a dropbox personal test account

Thanks for the investigation. It does seem like the issue is related to Personal/Business accounts

Simon, you can visit Sign Up - Pipedream to manage your connected accounts

Simon, by chance, does your business account have a folder with > 4000 files in it? There’s a hard limit on the Dropbox side of how many files you can watch - you can only watch for new files in a folder if the folder has < 4000 files in it.

No folders have > 4000.

The accounts page certainly allows you to delete a source. However, even when all sources are deleted - when you add a trigger to dropbox, any account previously added is retained in the form. There is no way to re-authorize with dropbox. That means I can’t re-test that first connection step.
I agree the issue is seemingly related to the fact its a business account…
Are you able to help in understanding why this matters ?- I have existing triggers on a sub folder of the business account, and just need to add another workflow for a different sub folder.
Its not enough to agree with me that its an interesting observation - I really need a resolution
Are you able to log in on my behalf and test …?

Same question asked by another user in November (and so far as I can tell, partially responded to but not resolved on the thread) . ie. seems like this is an outstanding issue that should be looked in to more. Can you access my credentials to test, or can we schedule a teams meeting in real time so I can demonstrate? I can be available 24 hours - this is a massive roadblock for me…

As you can see aboive - I created a Zapier trial account for test purposes and tested the same functions using Zapier, and it loaded the account folders fine…(and the associated workflow executes correctly)
This removes the possibility that the issue is a dropbox configuration issue or otherwise at the dropbox end .
I really don’t want to open an account with Zapier
