Why is a Successful Connection Not Displayed under "Accounts" in Pipedream UI Console?

This topic was automatically generated from Slack. You can find the original thread here.

I have a question:
I’ve implemented Pipedream Connect and am it seems successfully connecting a user to Slack - when I call the connect account method and pass my slug, OAuth app id, and token, it returns success and an app ID.

However, I was expecting that after that, I would see the connection listed in the Pipedream UI console under “Accounts”. But it’s not there. Is something amiss, or am I assuming incorrectly that it will show there? And if it doesn’t, is there any place in the UI I can see the connection?

It won’t show up there (we should figure out how to clarify that in the UI), but it does show up in the Users tab of the Connect section in your project. Do you see that?

Are you trying to use that account in a workflow?

(Geez it’s a shame you guys take so long to respond exp. on a weekend! :joy:  )

Why yes, it does show up on the Users tab - excellent!

Ultimately yes, I will want to use that connection in a workflow. But (a) I don’t need to do that just yet; for now I just wanted to make sure I could connect and authenticate using Pipedream Connect (I’m a C#/.NET guy so had to write an ASP.NET Core app to do it); and (b) my understanding is we can’t use it in a workflow quite yet - that’s something you all are going to release very soon - is that right?

We're releasing major features publicly over the coming weeks, including:
- Run Pipedream workflows on behalf of your end users

We quietly shipped it while we’re making improvements to the DX, so we haven’t announced it yet, but you can actually check it out here: https://pipedream.com/docs/connect/workflows

Oh and you’ll need to enable to feature flag in your account at pipedream.com/settings/alpha

Awesome, thanks!

What kind of app are you building / running? Would love to know more about your use case, and especially any feedback you have as you use Connect.

I can’t say too much publicly but we need to do RAG ingestion of data from multiple sources (yeah it’s an AI app). It’s early days with Pipedream but I think the question will be whether we can do the ingestion using workflows, or just use Pipedream to easily/cleanly handle the authentications and then do the ingestion ourselves using the apps’ APIs. Do you think workflows would be suitable for this use case, even if the ingestion involved potentially a high volume of data coming from some of the apps? Also it’s a B2C app so there will be a high volume of users if its successful. Any thoughts you have on this are very much appreciated!

Would you be up to chat live with me and a couple folks from my team? Would love to hear more about your core use case and give a demo of what we’re working on. Will shoot you a DM to coordinate if so.

Sure!
