Why Does the Pipedream Connect Github Demo Project Crash When Connecting Apps Other Than Shopify?

This topic was automatically generated from Slack. You can find the original thread here.

Hi! I’m experimenting with the pipedream connect github demo project. I get to the part where I have to click “Connect your {appname} account”, but as soon as I click it I get a bunch of errors and the site crashes. So far I could only get it to work with Shopify, but none of the apps (CRMs) that we would like to integrate. Am I doing something wrong? Would be really nice if I could use this to test Pipedream

Managed to get Hubspot to work, but only by connecting a custom OAuth client. Now Hubspot is throwing me this error, even though the scopes are the exact same as on pipedream

I’m looking into the first issue you posted about, and I can’t reproduce — what app was that happening with, Shopify?

It was happening with Hubspot before I added a custom OAuth

Oh, interesting, you shouldn’t have been able to get to that state, so that’s a bug. Did you add the HubSpot app to your project in the Pipedream UI?

Yes, I added it in the UI at Connect → Apps → Add app

And you were able to add it without selecting an OAuth client?

Yep. It just said “hubspot”, without the ID in parentheses. (Screenshot is after adding Oauth)

Interesting. Okay thanks, I’ll look into that.

Is this because of that issue, or something else?

Pretty sure it’s something else. After adding the Oauth client the Hubspot connection UI popped up and I could select my account etc, but at the end I get the error I sent. Since then I was able to connect my account, but only by copying the install URL from my hubspot dev account, the demo app keeps throwing the same error

I may know what’s happening on the HubSpot side, but I need investigate a bit.

In the meantime, can you confirm what browser and OS you’re using? And do you have an adblocker running by chance?

Thanks, using Windows 11 Firefox developer with Ublock Origin (adblocker)

Gonna try in Chrome too without adblocker

I have a feeling the adblocker might’ve been causing some of the initial issues, but not this latest scope mismatch with HubSpot

I think it likely broke some things in our UI, I’ll look into that as well

Tried to recreate it. When I click Hubspot in the “Select an app” window this menu indeed pops up, but if I ignore it and click on it again it gets added (without a client). Happens with or without adblock

Can you show me a screen recording by chance?
