Why does my Gmail dev account connected to Pipedream workflows keep losing access despite automatic refresh of access tokens?

This topic was automatically generated from Slack. You can find the original thread here.

I have a gmail dev account hooked up to a few workflows in a client’s workspace. It seems like the source is periodically losing access, I thought pipedream automatically refreshed access tokens so I am confused why this keeps happening, about once a week I’ve had to reconnect the gmail account under the connected accounts tab

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with the Gmail access tokens. Pipedream should automatically refresh the access tokens. To help you further, I’d recommend reaching out to the Pipedream support team at https://pipedream.com/support for more assistance. They’ll be able to look into your specific case and provide guidance on resolving the issue.

We’ve been looking into this for GCP apps that are not published, but it seems to be a consistent issue that customers have surfaced. cc

Great thanks appreciate the response. I just submitted a ticket with logs but you all can disregard if this is the case. Makes sense for nonpublished apps - have you seen a consistent timeframe it drops so I can try to preempt it?

It seems like the refresh tokens for these apps expire after 7 days, and we’re looking into if there’s any way of handling that (we typically handle refreshing refresh tokens, but for some reason for these apps we aren’t able to)

Got it, I’ll just set a chron job reminder for myself in the project in that case. Lmk if you’d like access to the WF or if you find a way to handle it. Thanks Danny!

Posted thread to Discourse: Why is My Gmail Dev Account Periodically Losing Access in Pipedream?

Hey Jacob, I’m still looking into workarounds, but in this StackOverflow thread, some users are reporting that moving the app from Testing to Published might be a trick to go around the 7 day expiry:

I’m testing this on my own, so I can report back next week, but thought I would share as others have reported success in that thread.
