Why Can't We Find the Pipedream App on Facebook Following Provided Instructions?

I’m working with a colleague to add the Pipedream app on Facebook, but they’re not finding it when searching (they were following these instructions). Any advice on what we might be doing wrong? See screenshot of trying to search below.

I apologize for the confusion. The instructions you’re following are for adding a Pipedream component for Facebook Groups within a Pipedream workflow, not for adding a Pipedream app on Facebook itself. To use the Facebook Groups components in Pipedream, your colleague should follow these steps: 1. Create a new workflow in the Pipedream UI. 2. Click on the “+” button to add a new step. 3. Search for “Facebook Groups” in the search bar and select the desired component (trigger or action). For more details, please refer to the Facebook Groups components documentation. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to ask.

The instructions state: “You need to install the Pipedream app in your Facebook Group in order to make any API calls, or use any prebuilt triggers or actions. To install Pipedream, navigate to the group where you’re an administrator, and in the left sidebar, under Settings > Group Settings, you’ll find Manage Advanced Settings. Click the Edit button under Apps. Search for “Pipedream”, and add the app to your Facebook Group.”

But there is no “Pipedream” app to add. Are we doing something wrong?

I apologize for the confusion in the instructions. It seems there’s an error in the documentation. Pipedream doesn’t have a separate app to install on Facebook. Instead, you can use the Facebook Groups components within Pipedream workflows to interact with the Facebook Groups API. To use the Facebook Groups components, follow these steps: 1. Create a new workflow in the Pipedream UI. 2. Click on the “+” button to add a new step. 3. Search for “Facebook Groups” in the search bar and select the desired component (trigger or action). If you need further assistance or have any questions, please let me know.

I’m not sure if Pi’s response is accurate here, you worked on this integration recently yeah?

I did, Pi’s response isn’t quite accurate — Facebook is a bit confusing. Ben, can you confirm that you tried to add this from your Facebook Group’s page?

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, looks like my colleague may have taken a wrong turn in Facebook’s UI and went to the Business Apps instead of staying in the Groups page advanced settings, I’ll let them know.

It can be tricky navigating the many surfaces of Facebook! I certainly encountered this myself when getting things configured. Let me know if you encounter any other issues.
