Why Can't I Connect My Pipedream Workspace to Slack Despite Receiving an Invitation?

Hello! I’m new to Pipedream and am running into an issue connecting my workspace to Slack (the entire purpose of my project ). I keep being told I can’t install it because I’m not a workplace owner. IT sent this:

I connected Pipedream and Slack and just sent you an invite.

I got the invite, am in the workspace and am still getting this message.

I believe that might be because of the Slack account (probably you are not the owner of the Slack workspace). Let’s ask Pi

It sounds like you’re encountering an issue with permissions related to installing the Slack integration in your Pipedream workspace. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve this: 1. Verify Workspace Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions in both Pipedream and Slack. You need to be an owner or have the appropriate permissions to install apps in your Slack workspace. 2. Accept the Invite: Make sure you’ve fully accepted the invite to the Pipedream workspace. Sometimes, permissions issues can arise if the invite process wasn’t completed correctly. 3. Check Slack App Permissions: Ensure that the Slack app in Pipedream has the necessary permissions to connect to your Slack workspace. You might need to ask your IT department to verify that the app is correctly configured and has the right scopes. 4. Contact Support: If you’re still having issues, it might be helpful to contact Pipedream support for further assistance. You can visit Pipedream Support for more options. If you continue to experience frustration, I recommend reaching out to Pipedream support directly for more personalized help. They can provide more detailed assistance based on your specific situation.

are you trying to install a Slack bot or connect your Slack account?

right now i’m trying to connect slack as a trigger, to pick up a message, send it to OpenAI Assistant via API, get a message, and send it back to Slack. But when I go to connect Slack in the trigger, I get the “Apologies, but Pipedream can’t be installed
This app isn’t listed in the Slack Marketplace, so only workspace owners can install it.” message.

Ahh that makes sense…

The auth account that connects with Pipedream needs to be a workspace owner, but maybe that’s a configuration in your workspace settings

Which invite did your IT send you and how did they connect Pipedream with Slack?

I connected Pipedream and Slack and just sent you an invite.

i can see the oauth in pipedream

for both our account and my app

IT is still the owner of the workspace…

Sorry, I’m getting confused, if the OAuth is connected in Pipedream, then can you select it when creating a trigger? Could you share some screenshots?

No, I can’t. Somehow at some point there was a drop down but it still wouldn’t let me connect.

Ah, I thought you were using our default OAuth connection and not a Custom OAuth app

should i be? lol. I’m so lost. I’m weeks into trying to make this all work and am so confused.

So I think you’ll have to have your IT authorize you as a owner of the Slack workspace in order to connect your account to Pipedream

It’s the policy for your Slack workspace

ok. i’ll see if they will do that. Thanks!

Hi Patrick! Thanks so much for working with Kevin yesterday. I have the correct permissions and am able to connect. Yay!! I’ve run into a separate problem that I tried to troubleshoot for several hours last night and am just stuck. is there any way you (or someone) would be able to hop on a screenshare and help me troubleshoot?
