Why am I receiving an "Error communicating with data store" on two workflows that share the same data-stores?

This topic was automatically generated from Slack. You can find the original thread here.

I am getting the following error on 2 of my workflows that share the same data-stores: Error communicating with data store. Three executions have now failed because of this, what is the issue?

When I click “Edit” to see the issue, I see a JSON under the error message that shows random number keys mapped to random number values. E.g.

0: 60
1: 104
10: 101
100: 114
etc.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your workflows. To better understand the problem, could you please provide more details about the workflows, the data store you’re using, and the specific steps where the error occurs? This will help me identify the issue and provide a solution. If you continue to experience frustration, please visit https://pipedream.com/support for more support options.

The data store has a uuid4 key, and a json object that stores the date of insertion, another internal “key” and some data required for another automation to pick up from (some strings).

Thank you for providing more details about your data store. It seems like you’re experiencing issues with the communication between your workflows and the data store. To help you resolve the issue, I would recommend the following steps: 1. Double-check the data store operations in your workflows to ensure they are using the correct data store name and keys. 2. Make sure the data being stored and retrieved is JSON-serializable, as data stores only support JSON-serializable data. 3. Check the logs of the failed executions for any additional error messages or details that could help identify the issue. If you’re still experiencing issues, please don’t hesitate to visit https://pipedream.com/support for more support options.

the code itself works, and the data that is inserted is valid, as when I re-run it to fix the execution, it works as expected. It seems to be a runtime issue - how can I fix this?

I understand that the issue seems to be related to the runtime. In this case, I would recommend adding error handling and logging to your workflows to help identify the root cause of the issue. You can use try-catch blocks to catch any errors and log them for further analysis. For example: ```
async function getDataFromDataStore() { // Your data store communication code here } export default defineComponent({ async run({ steps, $ }) { try { const data = await getDataFromDataStore(); // Process data and continue with the workflow } catch (error) { console.error(“Error while communicating with the data store:”, error); // You can also use $.export to export the error details for debugging purposes $.export(“error_details”, error); } }, });

502 Bad Gateway is the error.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the 502 Bad Gateway error. This error typically indicates a problem with the server or service you’re trying to communicate with. To help troubleshoot the issue, you can add more error handling and logging to your workflow, as mentioned in a previous response. If the issue persists, it could be related to temporary server issues or network problems. You might want to consider implementing a retry mechanism in your workflow to handle such cases. @UMT4G7E5P Any chance I can get some help on this?

Hi Guy, can you please share the code that’s inserting data into the store here?And what’s the estimated size of the data? Can you share a sample?
