This new pricing is rough. Feels like a rug pull when you’ve spent 10s, 100s (?) of hours contributing to building things here and then the pricing changes to the point that they’re just no longer worth doing or you can’t even access the apps they use. It’s gone from $19 per month to approx $200 for the things I do here. So now what? Look for something else and try to build it there to have the same thing happen again? Pay it? Pay but don’t contribute any extra ideas/work/feedback? I don’t know. Feels rather crap though.
And correct. 25,000 credits per month in usage would be about $193/month on the Advanced plan if you are paying the platform fee annually.
The credit costs discount heavily as usage increases. The 25k tier is a 58% discount on the base credit pricing across all subscription tiers.
The product has matured significantly over the past few years since we originally launched a paid product.
Our original plans were representative of a new product with limited feature/functionality.
Those original pricing plans often included both a low cost base subscription, high amounts of included credits, and very low cost per credits for any additional usage.
It made sense when the product had limited pre-built app support, limited triggers/actions, and limited overall platform functionality.
Since that time we have grown to support well over 2,000 apps with over 5,000 components – in addition to the large array of overall platform enhancements added including the upcoming control flow logic operators.
Yeah. I had 20,000 credits until this month. So it’s basically gone 10x in price after we were previously told in January “Existing customers are not required to switch to the new pricing unless you are looking to upgrade plans.” So being told that the pricing won’t go up again isn’t much of a guarantee since they’ve said no new pricing as recently as 6 months ago.
My marginal credits pricing has gone from $0.0002 to $0.01 which is 50x. Just brutal. Looking at the AWS website they appear to be charging it out at approx $0.000063 so its gone from 3x (which seems cheap) to 150x (which really doesn’t). I love that they’re adding new features but I don’t use them yet and I’m not going to spend the time re-writing all of my workflows to use them when things are so uncertain.
I doubt it. I was told “we understand if the platform isn’t the right fit for your use case any more.”
Which reads as a passive way of saying “fuck off, we don’t want or need your business” and completely dismisses any collaborative work we’ve done here.
Mark - We appreciate the feedback and understand that changes can be frustrating. I am sure there are things we could have done better.
For context, we gave all customers an entire year to prepare for the changes, messaged them multiple times, and have successfully migrated over a thousand customers without issue.
There is no passive sub-message here. We hope that customers see the value in our current product and continue to scale their businesses with us. We work hard everyday to make the product better.
Hi Tod, I see the message in my email now. But I get 100s of emails from pipedream per week. “Error in workflow” etc.
At the time this was announced we were told in this very slack chat “Existing customers are not required to switch to the new pricing unless you are looking to upgrade plans.” so I carried on building things thinking that would be the case. I didn’t hear anything different until I saw the new bill and went digging in my emails for the announcement.
I’m sure you have migrated 1000s of customers with a corporate billing department who literally couldn’t care less. That’s not us. We’re a 2 person business who spent a significant amount of time learning how all this low-code API programming works for it then to 50x the price on us. So, yeah being told “we understand if the platform isn’t the right fit for your use case any more” after investing that amount of effort certainly rubs the wrong way.
My use case also - so much time and effort then the new pricing literally blows us away. We are now scrambling to find alternatives as this is no longer viable let alone cost effective.
I don’t know if this would work for you guys, but something like hookdeck (which has pretty reasonable pricing) might help to filter out some events before they kick off workflows and incur credits in Pipedream.
Or even take care of very simple integration use cases (from A to B kinda things).
