It’s a nice approach… I think it’s the best option that is available so far! 
We weren’t even looking in the builder, because we wanted to have the manual events in the workflow inspector/event history as well.
If you wanted to run a BUNCH of ID’s, you could be all of the ID’s in a spreadsheet. Then use Pipedream to pull all of the rows and cycle through each one.
I have something like that happening for my payroll.
