Details

This integration uses pre-built, source-available components from Pipedream's GitHub repo. These components are developed by Pipedream and the community, and verified and maintained by Pipedream.

To contribute an update to an existing component or create a new component, create a PR on GitHub. If you're new to Pipedream component development, you can start with quickstarts for trigger span and action development, and then review the component API reference.

Trigger

Description:Emit new event for each new track saved to the current Spotify user's Music Library.
Version:0.1.1
Key:spotify-new-saved-track

Spotify Overview

Assuming you have a Spotify Developer account (https://developer.spotify.com/), you can use the Spotify API to build the following:

  • An app that displays a user's top artists, tracks, and genres
  • A playlist generator that creates a playlist based on a user's favorite artists
  • An app that shows a user's friends who also listen to a particular artist
  • A concert finder that shows a user upcoming concerts for their favorite artists

Trigger Code

import common from "../common.mjs";

export default {
  dedupe: "unique",
  type: "source",
  key: "spotify-new-saved-track",
  name: "New Saved Track",
  description: "Emit new event for each new track saved to the current Spotify user's Music Library.",
  version: "0.1.1",
  props: {
    ...common.props,
    db: "$.service.db",
  },
  methods: {
    ...common.methods,
    getMeta({
      track,
      added_at: ts,
    }) {
      const {
        id,
        name: summary,
      } = track;
      return {
        id,
        summary,
        ts,
      };
    },
    isItemRelevant(item, lastEvent) {
      const addedAt = new Date(item.added_at);
      return (addedAt.getTime() > lastEvent.getTime());
    },
  },
  async run() {
    const lastEvent = this.db.get("lastEvent")
      ? new Date(this.db.get("lastEvent"))
      : this.daysAgo(30);

    this.db.set("lastEvent", lastEvent);
    const tracks = await this.spotify._paginate(this.spotify.getUserTracks.bind(this));

    for (const track of tracks) {
      if (this.isItemRelevant(track, lastEvent)) {
        this.$emit(track, this.getMeta(track));
      }
    }

    this.db.set("lastEvent", new Date());
  },
};

Trigger Authentication

Spotify uses OAuth authentication. When you connect your Spotify account, Pipedream will open a popup window where you can sign into Spotify and grant Pipedream permission to connect to your account. Pipedream securely stores and automatically refreshes the OAuth tokens so you can easily authenticate any Spotify API.

Pipedream requests the following authorization scopes when you connect your account:
