Error “Running workflows with official OAuth apps is not allowed” when testing Gmail read_gmail in Pipedream Connect

Hello everyone,

I’m testing the “Running workflows for your end users” feature in Pipedream Connect and have followed the Getting Started guide at GitHub. My workflow includes the Gmail read_gmail action.

When I trigger the workflow, I see this error:

Running workflows with official OAuth apps is not allowed

Could anyone advise how to resolve this and successfully run the workflow for end users? Thank you!

Hi @hyungu,

You should visit Pricing - Pipedream for the latest pricing, but I’ll do my best to answer.

The error message you’re encountering, “Running workflows with official OAuth apps is not allowed,” suggests that there might be restrictions on using certain OAuth apps in workflows for end users, especially in a production environment. According to the Pipedream documentation, running workflows for end users in production requires a higher-tier plan, specifically the Business plan.

Here’s what you can do to resolve the issue:

  1. Check Your Plan: Ensure that your Pipedream account is on the Business plan or higher. Running workflows for end users in production requires this plan.

  2. Contact Support: If you’re already on the appropriate plan and still facing issues, it might be helpful to contact Pipedream support for further assistance. You can reach out to them at Support - Pipedream.

  3. Review Documentation: Make sure you’ve followed all the necessary steps in the Getting Started guide and any additional documentation related to running workflows for end users.

If you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pipedream support.

I’m currently testing my workflow in development mode—do I still need to be on a paid plan to run end-user workflows with official OAuth apps in development?
