## Description

Update fields on an existing employee. Only supplied fields are changed; unknown field names are silently ignored. Use **Get Employees Directory** to find the employee ID. [See the documentation](https://documentation.bamboohr.com/reference/update-employee)

| `hireDate` | `string` | No | Hire date in YYYY-MM-DD format, e.g. 2026-01-31. |
| `additionalFields` | `object` | No | Additional writable fields as name-value pairs, e.g. {"mobilePhone":"555-1234","address1":"1 Main St"}. Unrecognized names are silently ignored, so use the exact field names/aliases listed in BambooHR's Field Names reference. |
