## Description

Update an existing work item - retitle it, move it between states, reassign it, repoint its area and iteration, or link it to another work item. At least one field or a link is required. Returns the updated work item. Use when closing out automated work or reflecting a change from another system. Example: work item `299`, state `Closed`. | `state` | `string` | No | New state, e.g. Active, Resolved, Closed. Valid values depend on the work item type - run the List Work Item Types action first. |
| `assignedTo` | `string` | No | Email address or display name of the user to assign the work item to. Run the List Users action first to obtain valid values. |
| `areaPath` | `string` | No | Area path, e.g. MyProject\Team A. Run the List Classification Nodes action first to obtain valid values. |
| `iterationPath` | `string` | No | Iteration path, e.g. MyProject\Sprint 1. Run the List Classification Nodes action first to obtain valid values. |
| `tags` | `string[]` | No | Tags to set on the work item. Replaces the existing tag list. |
| `additionalFields` | `object` | No | Any other work item fields to set, keyed by reference name. Example: { "Microsoft.VSTS.Common.Priority": 1 }. Run the List Work Item Fields action first to obtain valid reference names. |
